Back in the day there used to be an interface to get stock quotes with the MSN Money site but it is not supported anymore.

The idea behind this spreadsheet was to use the latest and historic quotes to calculate intrinsic values of options and P&L for expired ones.

What is included in the roadmap for the development is various interested features like ability to download historical data for a stock, charts, select the markets and many more cool features.

All these future updates will be available by default to the existing customers without any further costs.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, let me know and I’ll try to write up a tutorial on that too. In order to easily update your refreshable stock quotes, you’ll want to make the “External Data” toolbar viewable.

To do this simply go to the View menu and click on Tools and then select “External Data.” Then, whenever you want to refresh your quotes, you simply click on the icon with the red exclamation point in the External Data toolbar and your numbers should refresh! Now you know how to insert REFRESHABLE stock quotes into your very own Excel spreadsheets.

With this new Excel function library to download Stock quotes right in your Excel workbook, you are in full control.

You can download only the information that you need and when you need.

All the functions take the symbol argument, so if you were to get the Ask price for Google then you would create a small function like =Ask("GOOG") and you will have the result in your cell.

NOTE: Please, take into account that the tool “Stock Quotes by Date” of our product SQ recovers historic stock quotes coming from free services of MSN Money and Yahoo Finance Which are NOT ALWAYS available or don't accept big quantities of historic consultations.

Therefore we only guarantee an optimal performance of our product: SQ for small and medium portfolios.
